Not a fan of his music but he deserves major props for calling out the DL on such a hypocritcal lifestyle choice. You can't preach Ahimsa while at the same time you're picking bone marrow out from between your teeth. Nice. Never did think much of the Dalai Lama anyways. I thought buddhists were vegan anyway? Obviously not.

His son, James, is vegan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyyEc-GNDfQCheck out that video. Paul shows how to make mashed potatoes. It's one of dear Linda's recipes, so it does contain milk/butter, however Paul says you can easily substitute those with soy milk and margarine. I made these veganized mashed potatoes and they are fantastic.

the saddest part is that his wife died of breast cancer which is so highly correlated with consuming dairy products its oblivious to me why anyone on the planet still consumes it... now in memorial she's got a line of cancer laden frozen meals? How can people be so daft, an eight year old could figure it out.

haha, I think that is really bad! The girl that responded to him, her song is pretty fucking rad, though!
I hate Meat Free Monday. People are freak'n in chaos mode on Monday, we need to pick a crap day like Tuesday or Thursday when people are bored and looking for any reason to talk about something at work. Ghent in Belgium picked Thursday and it seems to be working well.

After all this discussion, I still can't figure out if Sir Paul is vegan or not as of April 2010.
It is known that dairy is correlated with reproductive cancers - such as breast, prostate and ovarian. The evidence for this is overwhelming, so I can't imagine that he would support the industries that contributed to Linda's demise. He is an intelligent man. Surely he is aware of the science. T. Colin Campbell lays out the connection clearly in The China Study - a book that every vegan should read.
As far as The Dalai Lama goes, he claims that he has to eat meat for health reasons - under doctor's orders - but I am unaware of any health condition that requires the eating of meat. Sounds like an excuse to me.
Lastly, just because Sir Paul owns horses does not mean that he isn't a vegan. We own horses and we are vegan. The two are not mutually exclusive. My husband has had horses most of his life and just because he is vegan does not mean that he should surrender them to someone else who may not provide the high quality of care that he does. Vegans have cats and dogs, why not horses? At least our animals are vegans too.

Wasn't he the one who's behind Meatless Mondays ? He must have gone vegan just recently, if he is indeed.

He is a vegan! Paul and Linda McCartney are vegetarian for 21 years and counting.
"For us going veggie was really only down to one thing - that Linda and I both grew up being mad-keen nature-lovers. She, over on her side of the world, was looking under rocks for salamanders in posh Scarsdale, where she grew up."
Thats what paul said.

Think I mentioned this before... but there's a specific honour and rite of vegetarianism in the Buddhist faith. not all monks take it, though the ones that do have respect and are thought of as being one step closer to enlightenment. Funny bit is, Buddha spoke about how even an animal's life is sacred and he wasn't vegetarian.
